After the miracle of childbirth, many new moms decide to try to drop the weight that they gained while pregnant. It is always the case that the sooner you can lose the extra pounds the better. For a lot of people this weight loss means that they will try anything. This is especially true if the weight doesn’t seem to fall off as it does with those lucky few. The average new mom needs a little help. But is hoodia the answer?
It goes without saying that women who decide to nurse should be very careful about what they put into their body. This includes the hoodia diet pill. The hoodia diet pill is supposed to be a natural dietary supplement with no side effects for dieters. But it’s important to note that there has not been a lot of long term research on the drug. There has been little to know research done on how safe hoodia is for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
The truth is that the genuine hoodia gordonii plant is very safe when ingested. But this doesn’t mean that women who are breastfeeding should use it. There are a couple of reasons for this. Aside from the fact that there has been little research on this drug in regards to its effects on the breastfeeding population, new moms should avoid appetite suppression in general.
Women who are breastfeeding need proper nutrition. Many of the nutrients and vitamins that would be used to give you the energy that you need is used in the production of milk. Women need to eat a balanced diet so that their bodies can make an appropriate amount of milk for their child. Without nutrients, milk will be scarce after long term use.
Secondly, everything that a nursing mother ingests goes to through to their breast milk. This is one of the reasons why women who breast feed are discouraged from drinking alcohol, doing drugs, and taking certain medications. The same goes for hoodia gordonii. If a nursing mother takes the drug, it is reasonable to assume that it will also get passed to their baby through their milk. To take this theory a step further, this could lead to a loss of appetite in the baby and subsequent weight loss which is, of course, unhealthy for the child.
No mother want to have negative effects on their child. The best thing that you can do for yourself and your child is to lose weight naturally. You can start by making time for activity in your day, eating moderately, and drinking lots of water. This way may be a bit slower but it is surely worth it for the ensured well being of your little one.
